Hotel Fear

The Feoray family emigrated from Europe where they owned and operated a family inn. When Jonathon Feoray moved out west as a young man, he brought with him the knowledge and experience of the family business. He worked at several hotels and inns as he traveled across the country…little did he know his travels would end in his own peril.

The Feorays were looking for somewhere to settle down and raise a family. The Meadview Asylum was on the outskirts of town and Jonathon noticed that people coming to visit or drop off patients had nowhere to stay.  A Hotel is what this town needed, and he was just the man to provide it!

Starting with a small boarding house, its popularity proved a real hotel was needed in town. By good fortune or maybe fate, the Byrne Estate, that was the original owner of  Meadview before its Asylum days, was for sale. It was large enough to convert to a full-fledged Hotel. And so, Hotel Feoray was born!

The Feoray’s became very close to the Vander family. Both family’s fate and fortunes being intertwined because of Meadview. When Dr. Vander and his family was killed by a resident, the Feoray’s were the first to provide help and console Adrian who buried himself into his research to find a cure and hopefully prevent another family from experiencing his fate.

Issues developed with Jonathon’s grandson Mortimer. Johnathan’s son and his wife mysteriously disappeared! Although Mortimer was implicated, nothing could be proven. As a personal favor, the young Dr. Adrian Vander admitted Mortimer to the Asylum, not just treat him, but cure him of this dreaded mental condition!

Adrian made astounding advancements with Mortimer to the point that the Dr. announced that Mortimer was officially cured!  He returned to the Hotel to resume a normal life.  But Mortimer suffered some sort of mental relapse and killed everyone in the Hotel!! That is everyone except one guest, Adrianne in Room 13! It was not known if that was because of Mortimer’s fear of the number 13 or the name similarity to the young Doctor, his friend Adrian!

It became known as the Feoray Incident , so as the Asylum fell into disuse again, the Hotel became known locally under a new moniker…Hotel FEAR!

In the latest reincarnation of the Asylum, the facility has been taken over by an unknown government agency. While rumors run rampant about the activities at the Meadview, it is still good business for the Hotel. Visitors to the facility usually spend a night or two at the Hotel. Once again, the Asylum has become the life blood of the Hotel…or maybe it’s doom… could it once again become….HOTEL FEAR!

Asylum

The Asylum began life as The Meadview Health Sanctuary in the early 1900’s. Founded by Maurice Byrne, it was based on the popularity of facilities such as the Kellogg’s Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan. It was built on part of the massive Byrne Estate.

Once a cutting-edge facility, its theories on health fell from social prominence. The facility slowly declined into a state of disuse. Dr. Vander, a pioneer on the issues of mental health looked at the facility, made an offer on the property and reincarnated it as Meadview Asylum.

Dr. Vander’s theories were based on rehabilitation. Life was good at Meadview. Then tragedy befell Meadview and the Vander family as the Dr., his wife and daughter were killed by a resident. The son, Adrian, a medical prodigy, was fortunately away at school. He felt that his father went wrong with just trying to treat or rehabilitate mental illness. The young Dr. Vander felt that if his father had found a cure, the Vander family would still be alive. Adrian began a lifelong obsession to find a cure so to rationalize his family’s deaths.

The Feoray’s, friends of the family and proprietors of the local hotel, had issues with their son Mortimer. Adrian knew Mortimer and agreed to treat him.  The young Dr. Vander decided to use him to test his theories. If he could “cure” Mortimer it could prove his family did not die in vain.

Having what he thought was a breakthrough he declared Mortimer cured, no longer a threat to society. Mortimer could return to life at the hotel!  But the cure was short lived for when Mortimer returned, he killed everyone!! Well, except one young girl, Adrianne. It became known as the Feoray Incident!

Dr. Vander could not shake the scrutiny from the incident. Mortimer was caught and returned to Meadview, not for rehabilitation but for incarceration. There were rumors of Mortimer wandering the halls of the Hotel but then reports of him being seen lurking at the Asylum! Again, Meadview fell into decay.

But like a Phoenix, Meadview was once again reborn, this time with Dr. Vander’s nephew Roland at the helm. The Asylum was able to reopen with the help and funding of… some unnamed and untitled government agencies!

Under the guise of a mental health facility, there have been some unknown and hypothetical activities at the Asylum. Rumors abound, everything from genetic enhancing to viral testing. To appease local concerns, the Asylum is allowing limited visitors to view the facility. Under the guise of an “Oversight Committee”, your real purpose it to see for yourself that everything is on the up and up.

But be careful on your tour, as we are experiencing some unknown electrical problems at the facility!  Hopefully all is safe and everything and EVERYONE remains contained…. we hope!
